THE latest apprentices to be taken on by Hartlepool Borough Council have been welcomed to their new roles.

A total of 24 new recruits and existing apprentices who have progressed to the next level of their apprenticeship programme – a joint initiative between the Council and Hartlepool College of Further Education – gathered in the Council Chamber recently to meet Leader of the Council, Councillor Christopher Akers-Belcher and the Council’s Chief Executive Gill Alexander.

Councillor Christopher Akers-Belcher, who is also the Tees Valley Combined Authority’s Cabinet Member for Education, Employment and Skills, said: “The Council is extremely committed to investing in our young people, and the quality apprenticeship opportunities we offer continue to open doors into employment for the future workforce.

“We would like to congratulate the new apprentices on securing their posts, whilst also praising the existing apprentices for their accomplishments so far.”

Chief Executive Gill Alexander added: “If we don’t invest in apprenticeships, we don’t invest in our future.

“Our apprentices have access to a wealth of support and knowledge within this Council to help them along every step of their individual career journeys, and we wish them every success.”

The apprentices are working in a variety of disciplines across a range of Council departments, including Public Health, Child and Adult Services and Chief Executive’s.
