Plan your journey and stay safe
Before you go out, tell someone:
- where you are going
- how you are getting there
- who you are going with
- when you expect to be back
While you are out
To stay safe:
- stay aware of what is happening around you
- keep valuables in a zipped pocket or bag
- stay near other people where possible
- avoid poorly lit areas, shortcuts and isolated places
What to take with you
Take only what you need and keep your belongings safe.
Important items
- keys – keep them in a safe place
- money – take only what you need, including change for bus fares
- bus pass – keep it somewhere easy to find
- identification (ID) – if you have it, carry it separately from your bus pass
Useful information
- a list of important phone numbers, such as:
- parent or carer
- day centre
- school, college or workplace
Helpful items for your journey
- mobile phone – make sure it is charged and has credit
- Bridge Card – if you need extra help using public transport
