Supporting You and Your Child

Within Children's Services we have dedicated teams working to support you and your family on a formal and informal basis.  We understand that most Families experience challenging times, and we are here to support you.

Early Help teams will support you in identifying where a child and their family may need extra support in either the early years of a child's life or in the early stages of a problem at any time in their childhood.  Early Help services work with families with children aged 0-19 (or 25 with additional or complex needs).

Early Help is split into many services, such as:

  • Health Visiting
  • Children's Centres
  • School Nursing
  • Family Workers

As a team we aim to help you to manage some of the difficult day-to-day home situations.

Having a new baby can take some adjusting too, Hartlepool Health Visiting Service are here to help answer any questions parents may have and offer support if you are finding things difficult.  Please read the information below on common issues following the birth of your baby.

About this site

This site and the information inside of it aims to help you support your child, whether it's help with getting your baby to sleep, advice for fussy eaters or teaching your child new skills - we hope to provide a one-stop shop of information for parents and families in Hartlepool.

Click here for some really good video clips to help understand child development and the importance of play on your child’s brain development.

Neurodevelopmental Pathway

Across Hartlepool and Stockton-on-Tees we have worked with NHS colleagues to develop a ‘needs led’ neurodevelopmental pathway to make sure you and your child are supported as much as possible. If you or a professional thinks that your child has a neurodevelopmental need, help is available.

These are needs which can be associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). For more information visit The Tees Valley Clinical Commissioning Group website.
