Sean, Middlesbrough

Sean is a taxi driver from Middlesbrough. He’s been in recovery from gambling related harms for many years and it has been six years since his last bet.

He’s now in his fifties but struggled with alcoholism, substance misuse and gambling disorder as a younger man. Gambling, he admits, was the worst of all of these for him.

At the height of experiencing gambling-related harms, Sean was battling with depression which led him to self-harm and suicidal thoughts.

He found gamblers anonymous and openly shares that this saved his life.
