Who can get Local Council Tax Support
You may be eligible if:
- you are responsible for paying Council Tax
- you live in the property as your main home
Council Tax Support schemes
Reporting a change to your current claim
You must report any changes within one month. This includes:
- if you or your partner's income changes
- if you or your partner start or stop work
- if you or your partner's capital, savings, and/or money in bank accounts changes
- if you have a change in your status such as marriage, separation, bereavement.
- if someone comes to live with you or leaves your property
- if you stop getting Child Benefit
- income changes for other people who live with you
- any temporary absence from home within the UK if likely to be more than 13 weeks
- any temporary absence from home outside of the UK if likely to be more than 4 weeks
This list is only some examples, please report your changes even if you are unsure whether it will affect your Council Tax Support.

Checking the progress of your claim
We cannot process your claim until all required information is received. If we need more details, we will contact you by email or letter.
Once processed, you will receive:
- a notification letter
- an updated Council Tax bill (if applicable)
Changes to Local Council Tax Support award
If your Council Tax Support changes, you will be notified. If this affects your payments, a new bill will be issued.
