Cemeteries and Crematorium

Our Services & Memorabilia

Our facility caters for the needs of different communities and religions. We endeavour to provide everyone with the best possible service throughout the whole process of bereavement. Our aim is to allow families and family to bid a meaningful farewell to someone who has been dear to them. This means that we will do all we can to accommodate both traditional religious funeral services and other alternative forms of farewell, recognising that each funeral is a unique event to say good-bye to an individual, to be thankful for and to celebrate all they have meant to those close to them. Our services and facilities are designed to ease the pain of what can be sad and deeply personal loss. The staff at Bereavement Services are here to help with regards to either the funeral service itself or memorials. We will be able to guide you through what is undoubtedly a difficult time.

After the bereavement of a loved one so many people express a wish for some form of memorabilia to commemorate their memory.

Should you wish to discuss the memorabilia or services below please contact the Bereavement Services team and we will be happy to discuss your wishes.

Keepsake Urns

We understand the significance of reserving the memories of your loved one. A keepsake memorial urn is used to store the cremated ashes of your loved one. We offer a range of mini keepsakes. This is a beautiful and meaningful way to honour their memory. Our urns offer a personal and touching tribute, allowing you to keep a small amount of ashes close to your heart.

Approximate height is 7.5cm. A secure lid places the ashes safely in the urn. All keepsakes are supplied in a black velvet presentation box.

Burial of Ashes

Many people decide to have the ashes of a loved one buried. Ashes can be either buried in a new grave or within a family grave but permission must be given by the grave owner(s) along with consent to erect a memorial. We have a designated burial area both at Stranton and West View Cemetery for cremated remains only which is known as the Tribute Area. Within one of these plots, up to four cremated ashes caskets can be buried and a memorial can be erected.

Scattering of Ashes

Many people decide to scatter the ashes of a loved one at either a cemetery or crematorium. If you decide to have ashes scattered at Hartlepool Crematorium, this service will be undertaken with great sensitivity by our own trained staff in the Gardens of Remembrance, or where exclusive right of burial gives permission. You can choose to have either an unwitnessed scattering, or if preferred, the scattering may be observed by friends and family.

Floral Tributes

Flowers brought to a funeral are a symbol of the love and respect held for your loved one. Following the service the floral tributes will be on display where you can take your time to read the cards and messages. As a mark of our own respect, we will retain and display all floral tributes in the Garden of Remembrance for a period of two weeks after the funeral service. They will then be carefully removed.
