Management Support

Communications & Marketing

Effective public/media relations is vital to protect and enhance the reputation of any organisation and the Council’s Communications and Marketing team is just a phone call away to give you all the support you need to help deal with any situation/crisis.

The highly-experienced team will help schools deal with all enquiries which they receive from the media and are contactable 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Media calls can often be very sensitive, involving issues as diverse as accidents at school, staff suspensions, complaints from parents, children who have wandered out of school or an unexpected school closures.

The team will act as the main point of contact for all incoming media enquiries and will advise the school of the best way of dealing with the enquiry.

In the case of newspaper enquiries, in most cases these will involve the Communications and Marketing team drafting (normally in conjunction with the headteacher) a written statement from the school which would then issue to the media.

In the event of enquiries from TV and radio stations, these may involve preparing a representative of the school for media interview – for which the Communications and Marketing Team would provide support and advice on the key messages to convey during the interview – or they may entail preparing and issuing a statement.

The Communications and Marketing team is also happy to provide general advice and guidance to schools on any PR/communication issue at any time.
