Scrutiny

The Scrutiny Support Team is located within the Legal Services Division of the Chief Executive's Department and provides dedicated support to the Authority's Audit and Governance Committee by:-

• preparing briefing reports and agendas;
• writing summaries of evidence/collecting background papers  and other information;
• planning and undertaking research;
• scoping and managing Scrutiny enquiries;
• supporting and liaising with any witnesses submitting evidence to the Scrutiny Committees;
• managing community participation as part of a Scrutiny enquiry;
• facilitating and assisting Scrutiny discussions;
• drafting reports;
• contributing to the development of Members' Scrutiny skills and delivering training events;
• monitoring the Scrutiny process and ensuring that progress reports are prepared and reported back to the relevant Policy committee;
• raising the profile of the Overview and Scrutiny function in Hartlepool by producing Leaflets and establishing links with the local, regional and national media to publicise the work of Scrutiny in Hartlepool.
