Main Heading for a CV
Personal Details: Name, address and telephone number are essential, date of birth, marital status and ethnicity are optional.
Profile: A short statement to summarise YOU. It should include key skills, experience, attributes and ambitions.
Career History: Where, when, job titles and responsibilities begin with your most recent post and work backwards. This should create a good impression at an early stage.
Education: Where, when and qualifications obtained, don’t include failed exams. Less important qualifications should never swamp more advanced achievements. Mature applicants can cut down the detail in this section; your career history is more relevant.
Qualifications: Include dates, subject and level, these should be job related or other qualifications done at work, day release, evening class or professionally. State the highest level qualification first and make sure they are still valid.
Additional Information: This section can be used for skills such as languages, first aid, driving licence membership of any business organisations etc.
Interests: Voluntary activities, sports and hobbies, the more relevant to the job you are applying for the better.
References: This is optional, you can include the names and addresses of two referees or you can just put ‘available on request’
