Factors outside your control

A relatively new interviewer with not much experience may conduct your interview

But remember they are trying to make a judgement about.......

  • Your ability to do the job
  • Your attitude and motivations
  • How well you fit into the organisation

Interviewers will only be able to achieve this by...

  • Putting you at ease
  • Establishing a rapport with you
  • Conducting a two-way conversation

Sometimes an interviewer may not be trained or experienced, in which case you should keep calm and try and help the interviewer.  Be aware that some interviewers might deliberately appear unfriendly or aggressive to test how you react under pressure, so always keep calm.

REMEMBER... most employers like

  • People who listen
  • People who answer questions with examples
  • People who are brief in the right places
  • People who come prepared
  • People who appear confident
